How to Become a Christian

How to Become a Christian
3:43

Maybe you've been curious for a while. Maybe someone you love has faith you've always admired from a distance. Or maybe life has brought you to a place where you're asking bigger questions—who am I, why am I here, and is there something more?

Whatever brought you here, you're in the right place.

It Starts With a Simple Truth

God knows you, loves you, and is already reaching toward you.

The Bible tells us that God created you, knows you fully, and loves you deeply, not because of anything you've done, but simply because you're His.

That love isn't based on having the right background or a perfect past. It’s steady, patient, and personal.

But Scripture is also honest: sin—our selfishness, our failures, the ways we fall short—creates distance between us and God. Not because He stops loving us, but because a perfect God and a broken world can’t fully connect without something changing.

So God made a way.

What Jesus Did

The heart of Christianity is what God has already done for you.

“God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

Jesus, fully God and fully human, lived the life we couldn’t live and took on the weight of our sin. Through His death and resurrection, He made a way for us to be restored to God.

This isn’t about us working our way up to Him, it’s about Him coming down to us.

How Do You Respond?

Faith begins by receiving, not achieving.

The Bible makes it clear that becoming a Christian isn’t about earning God’s approval, it’s about accepting what’s already been given.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9

In simple terms, this means:

  • Acknowledge your need for God honestly and personally
  • Believe in who Jesus is and what He has done for you
  • Receive His forgiveness as a gift, not something you earn
  • Choose to follow Him and grow in your relationship with Him

This is not about perfection, it’s about surrender and trust.

A simple, honest conversation with God can change everything.

There’s no perfect script required. God cares about your heart, not your wording.

If you're ready, you can pray something like:

“God, I know I need you. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again. I receive your forgiveness and want to follow you. Thank you for loving me. Amen.”

If you prayed that sincerely, you’ve taken a real and meaningful step.

What Comes Next

Faith grows through small, consistent steps.

Your journey doesn’t end here, it begins here.

Like any relationship, your faith will grow over time. Spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, and connecting with other believers will help you build a strong foundation.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. What matters is continuing to move forward.

A Community That Cares

You were never meant to walk this journey alone.

Faith is meant to be lived in community. Encouragement, support, and shared belief make a powerful difference.

At OneShare Health, we are a Health Care Sharing Ministry built on that same foundation, Members coming together to support one another in both practical and meaningful ways. We believe in carrying one another’s burdens and living out what it truly means to be Better Together.
