Salmon is Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Salmon comprises 80% of omega-3 fatty acids, contains very little saturated fat, and is heart-healthy. These acids are known to fight inflammation and heart disease. As a result, regularly consuming salmon can significantly reduce your risk of developing many degenerative conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis. Omega-3s also help stimulate brain activity and boost mood—so it's not surprising that people who regularly eat fish are happier than those who don't.

Salmon Has Vitamin D and Vitamin B12

If you're not chowing down on salmon at least once a week, consider adding it to your weekly meal plan. A six-ounce serving of fresh salmon gives you two times more than your daily vitamin D needs and 80 percent of your B12 intake for the day.

Salmon is Full of Protein

Salmon is an excellent source of protein, with about 20 grams in a 3.5-ounce serving. Protein helps build muscle, which burns more calories at rest than fat does. So if you're looking to bulk up or gain muscle, then salmon can be your new best friend. Another positive to protein is that it keeps you feeling full longer than carbs and even helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Salmon is Good for Your Heart

As we said before, salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids, which can lower blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease. But also, fish oils are high in antioxidants, reducing inflammation and helping prevent stroke and Alzheimer's.

Salmon Helps you Maintain your Weight

Salmon is extremely high in protein, and research shows that it helps prevent unhealthy weight gain. Salmon's Omega-3 fatty acids also promote healthy cell growth, so eating salmon every day will help you maintain your shape. Another bonus: The fat content in salmon makes you feel full faster, meaning you'll eat less over time.
