"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
—Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

Teaching children about the Word of God doesn't have to resemble a sermon. In fact, some of the best spiritual seeds are planted through play, creativity, and giggles! Here are five simple, faith-inspired activities to enjoy with your little ones, designed to enrich their hearts while providing plenty of hands-on fun.

Armor of God DIY Project1. “Armor of God” Paper Doll Craft

Teach Ephesians 6 in a whole new way!

  • Use cardstock to cut out paper dolls.

  • Have your child draw and decorate armor: belt of truth, helmet of salvation, shield of faith, and more!

  • Talk about what each piece means while coloring. Ask: “How can we wear this piece today?”

📖 Read Together: Ephesians 6:10–18

The Prayer Jar of Blessings DIY Activity 2. Prayer Jar of Blessings

Create a fun way to teach gratitude and prayer!

  • Use a mason jar or recycled container.

  • Let kids decorate it with stickers, paint, or washi tape.

  • Write names, situations, or Bible verses on slips of paper. Pull one each day and pray for that person or thing.

📝 Bonus Idea: Add one answered prayer each week to build their faith!

BINGO of Faith DIY fun for kids!3. Fruit of the Spirit Bingo

Because love, joy, peace, and patience deserve game time!

  • Make a simple 3x3 bingo grid.

  • Fill each square with one of the fruits from Galatians 5 (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control).

  • As your child shows that “fruit” during the day (like being kind to a sibling), they mark it off.

🍇 Fruit of the Spirit Treat: Serve a fruit snack when they win—healthy and heavenly!

Noah's Ark Animal Parade DIY4. Noah’s Ark Animal Parade

Gather toy animals or draw your own, and make your own ark with a cardboard box.

  • Re-enact the story of Noah.

  • Add water play by using a bathtub or sink for the flood!

  • Great for little learners who love tactile and pretend play.

🌈 Talk about God’s promises and end with a rainbow craft using tissue paper or crayons!

Bible Verse Hide-and-Seek DIY for kids5. Bible Verse Hide-and-Seek

Memorizing Scripture can be a game!

  • Write a short verse on a card and hide it around the house.

  • Give kids clues to find it, and when they do, have them read or recite it aloud.

  • Try a different verse each day or week!

📚 Start with something simple like Psalm 119:105:
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
