The temperatures are slowly rising and summer is just around the corner. For me, this means constant thought on how to keep my two teenage boys busy so they don’t lock themselves in their rooms and play video games all summer. It takes planning and an incredible wife who is able to glue it all together.
I don’t know about you, but my family is as busy – if not busier – than when the boys are in school. With camps, swim practice, and countless other obligations, our summer can fly by quickly. There are many things in life that are important to give our time to like work, exercise, church… and the list goes on. However, there is no more important thing we give our time to other than our family and those closest to us.
For some of you, the word “family” doesn’t exactly bring warm, fuzzy thoughts. But there are people who we have in our lives that we love and need. We are all born with a need for connection. As babies, we cry for the comfort of a parent’s touch that instills a sense of wellbeing and safety. As adults, we need this connection just as much as an infant. Spending quality time with those you love, and who love you back, can bring a quality of life that we all hope for. Take time this summer to connect and spend time with the people in your lives. Time will never stop and we can never get it back. Take advantage of today and use your time wisely to love and to truly live this life that we have been given.
“Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
James 4:14 (NKJV)
Use the time you have to spend with others. Get connected with people so you can give and receive the love and acceptance we all need. Jesus used connectedness to change the world through spending time with His disciples. Jesus will always be our example and we are to follow Him so we can be His hands and feet.
God bless you, my friends! Go, and love well.
