Is the King of Kings Movie Biblically Correct?

Written by OneShare Health | 1:45 PM on October 2, 2025

When faith-based films are released, it’s natural for families to ask: Does this line up with the Bible? The new King of Kings movie has sparked curiosity and conversation. While the film offers a visually moving retelling of Jesus’ life, viewers should keep in mind that not every detail mirrors Scripture exactly.

The Heart of the Story

The movie portrays the life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus. These events are central to the Gospels and are beautifully brought to life on screen. Many families may find it an engaging way to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope He brings.

Where the Movie Differs

Like many biblical films, King of Kings blends storytelling with cinematic choices. This means:

  • Some dialogue is imagined to give context or emotion to the scenes.

  • Certain timelines and events are simplified for clarity.

  • Characters may be emphasized or adjusted to help the story flow on screen.

These changes don’t necessarily contradict Scripture but may not always reflect the exact words or sequence found in the Bible.

Faith vs. Film

It’s important for families to know the difference between a movie inspired by the Bible and the Bible itself. Films can be a great way to spark interest and conversations, especially for children or teens. However, Scripture should always be the ultimate guide for truth and accuracy.

A Family Conversation Starter

Watching King of Kings could be an excellent opportunity to sit down together and open the Bible. Compare what you see on screen with the passages in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This helps children learn discernment and reminds us all to keep our focus on what Scripture teaches.

You can find King of Kings on a variety of streaming services, such as Angel, Amazon, and Apple TV.

The Bigger Picture

So, is King of Kings biblically correct? In spirit, yes. In every detail, not exactly. Think of it as a tool, a way to bring the story of Jesus into family discussions, while remembering that the Bible remains the ultimate source of truth.
